On a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, lifelong friends Pádraic and Colm find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly ends their friendship. Pádraic, stunned and unwilling to accept it, repeatedly tries to repair the relationship with help from his sister Siobhan and troubled islander Dominic, but his efforts only harden Colm's resolve. When Colm issues a desperate ultimatum, events quickly escalate with shocking consequences.
