Saint Omer

Rama, a novelist, attends the trial of Laurence Coly at the Saint-Omer Criminal Court in order to draw on the case for a contemporary retelling of the Medea myth. As the proceedings unfold, however, the testimony and the atmosphere of the courtroom push her to confront the story in a different way. What begins as research for a book becomes a difficult reflection on motherhood, guilt, and the limits of understanding another person's tragedy.
