Basque Country, 778 AD: the menace of the Muslim Empire forces Eneko, a feudal lord, to renounce his Catholic faith and make a deal with the powerful pagan entity Mari in exchange for victory over the invaders. Fifteen years later, his son Eneko returns as a devout Catholic and is forced to travel with Irati, a girl raised in the forest who despises Christianity, to recover his father's lost corpse.
