A wave of an unknown mutation is turning people into animal-like creatures. François desperately tries to save his infected wife, Lana, but when she is sent to a hospital facility in southern France, he follows her with their 16-year-old son, Émile. After an accident causes some of the creatures, possibly including Lana, to disappear, father and son set out to find her, a search that will change their lives forever.
