Set on the Northern Great Plains in 1719, a young Comanche woman named Naru dreams of becoming a respected hunter, but those around her do not take her ambitions seriously. When a hunting party heads into the woods to track a fellow tribesman attacked by a cougar, Naru notices strange signs and soon realizes the forest holds a far more dangerous predator. Determined to prove herself, she sets out to hunt it down, unaware that her prey is an advanced alien being searching for a worthy opponent.
