Dr. Stevenson makes headlines for her new research, claiming that it may be possible to continue observing people after death. To prove her theory, she seeks volunteers who will, under her supervision, pass into the afterlife. Rose and Teddy respond to the call, each seeing it as the perfect way to end their life. Together they travel across the country to a research center, and along the way the trip pushes them to fight, reconcile, and slowly rediscover a reason to keep living.
