In the final days of World War II, kamikaze pilot Koichi Shikishima lands on Odo Island, where an Imperial Japanese Army repair base is located. That same evening, the island is attacked by a giant reptilian creature the locals call Godzilla. Koichi returns to bomb-ravaged Tokyo and tries to move on, but after nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll, Godzilla grows even larger and more dangerous.
