A biology student on practice aboard a fishing trawler off the west coast of Ireland finds herself trapped with the crew when the vessel strays into a forbidden zone. Soon, something in the water begins to infect the ship, and the crew must fight for survival as a mysterious parasite spreads. The situation falls increasingly on the student to help the others understand and confront the threat.
