On June 21, 2028, a riot breaks out in Los Angeles after water is privatized and becomes unaffordable. In the chaos, a crew of bank robbers makes their escape and ends up at Hotel Artemis, a secret hotel-hospital that only treats criminals. Run by Jean Thomas, known as "the Nurse," the hotel admits only paid-up members, but the arrival of wounded strangers and a feared crime boss puts everyone inside at risk. With violence closing in and weapons forbidden within the hotel, the guests must survive the night.
