On June 8, 1924, British climbers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine vanished while attempting to conquer Everest. Seventeen years later, a Japanese reporter finds their camera in a shop in Nepal and begins an investigation. As he enters the world of obsessive mountaineers, he tries to uncover the mystery of the disappearance and perhaps determine who first reached the summit.
