In Rome, 67 AD, after the great fire devastates part of the city, Emperor Nero blames Paul for the disaster and has him arrested and imprisoned in Mamertine Prison. As Paul awaits execution, he reflects on his past and on the growth of the early Christian church, while Luke arrives to find him and record his story before he dies.
