A young but already heavy-drinking actor, Otis Lort, is in a car accident and ends up in rehab. To understand the roots of his addiction and self-destructive streak, his therapist tells him to recall and write down vivid moments from his past. In those memories, his father keeps emerging as the central figure, emotionally and sometimes physically abusive, yet convinced he knows what is best for his son.
