A shy girl named Uraya lives on a remote mountainous island where the locals fear mysterious creatures called ochi and believe they are dangerous. One day, she finds a lost ochi baby in the forest and decides to return it to its parents. On the journey, Uraya must learn to understand the unusual forest creature and convince people that befriending the ochi is better than fearing them.
